New book says Islamists have infiltrated Washington
WASHINGTON: A new book claims that Islamists masquerading as moderates have insinuated themselves into the very fabric of American society, to the nation’s extreme peril.
The book by Paul Sperry, a journalist, which can only come as news to American Muslims, is called ‘Infiltration: how Muslim spies and subversives have penetrated Washington’.
According to its promotional literature, “While Americans continue to promote cultural diversity and religious tolerance as society’s highest values, radical Muslims masquerading as ‘moderates’ have insinuated themselves into the very fabric of American society, to the nation’s extreme peril.”
The book claims to reveal “how Islamic extremists, taking advantage of Americans’ blind trust and gaining footholds in the nation’s education system, government, workplace, law enforcement and military, have been covertly working to destroy America’s constitutional government and the Judeo-Christian ethics on which the nation was built.”
Described as a “blockbuster expose,” the author is said to have used “classified documents and revealing interviews to courageously explain how, for the past 30 years, Muslims have labored to replace the US constitution with the Quran and turn America into an Islamic state.” Those held responsible for the alleged Muslim “infiltration” of Washington are “the politically correct media, government, and citizens, who don’t fully understand the dangers of the Muslim faith.”
The book’s publishers claim that Sperry “explodes the facade of moderation and patriotism that Muslim scholars, imams, clerics, businessmen and other leaders in the burgeoning Muslim community in America have conveyed in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. In reality, says Sperry, the Muslim establishment that publicly decries the radical fringe - represented by Al Qaeda’s brand of Islam known as Wahhabism, the official religion of Saudi Arabia - is actually a part of it. The only difference is that they use words and money instead of bombs to accomplish their goals.”
The prospective readers are promised that not only will they forget nearly everything they have been told about these “moderate” and “mainstream” leaders, but they will find that the book also exposes the true agenda of these “moderate” and “mainstream” leaders and explains the “full scope of the dangerous threat of Islam in America.”
Such paranoia exists only in pockets but disturbing incidents continue to take place in communities across the nation. On Friday, the Chicago office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) reported that the FBI is investigating a number of racist phone threats made against a Chicago Ridge Muslim family. The victim told police that, beginning in March, she received several phone calls from an identified man threatening to kill her and her baby son if the family does not move away from the neighbourhood. “I know who you are, if you do not move away from my neighbourhood within a month I will shoot you and kill you and your son,” said the caller, who is thought to be a neighbour living close enough to see who is in the house.
The caller’s most recent death threat came on the cell phone of the mother, telling her that she is a “f**king Arab” and that he will not call again, but will kill her and her son if they do not move away within two weeks. It is another matter that the woman is Hispanic though she is married to a man from the Middle East. Local law enforcement authorities and the FBI have been contacted about the case. “It is important for all people of conscience to speak out against the growing anti-Muslim rhetoric in America that leads to discrimination, threats and even violence,” according to Ahmed Rehab of CAIR’s Chicago chapter. He said a Chicago-area Muslim family recently filed a civil rights lawsuit against a man who blew up their van with an explosive device. The same man was convicted of throwing a brick through the window of an Arab-owned business two days after the 9/11 attacks. “We applaud the swift and professional response of local FBI officials to this and other anti-Muslim incidents in our area,” said Yaser Tabbara, head of CAIR, Chicago. khalid hasan
